I'm looking for a word that means something similar to this:
'When you see something you want to do it'

Any info would be appreciated thanks.

Is "compulsion" what you want?

The "mypacks.net" address from which this message was sent is
legitimate and not spam-trapped. It is, however, disposable.

"Temptation" is another possibility.

No that is not the word I am looking for.  Thank you for responding
though.  I believe it is a very obscure word.

Perhaps you  could get more help if you created a paragraph showing the
context in which you wish to use the word you are requesting.  You might
also, in the interest of telling us why a word is _not_ the word you
want, express whether or not you have looked up the proffered word in a
thesaurus or a dictionary.

I offer, for your rejection, then: impulse.

Of course an impulse, as in "impulse buying" may be triggered by a
random thought or association, and not by "seeing something and wanting
to do it".

That hint that you give could be wanting to kill oneself, because of the
style with which someone executes an idea.  How about sky-diving?
Surfing?  Screwing your neighbor's wife?

You might also give some idea of the strength of the "wanting", or the
emotional impact of the "seeing and wanting".

I am actually asking this for a friend of mine.  I will see him again
on Monday, so I will let you know the context then.  Thanks for all of
the responses so far.

Here is my friends description:

The definition of the word that I'm looking for is:

"when you have seen something on televeision or a movie and then you
want to reenact it.  or if you have seen something and you want to
actually do it"  example: kung-fu movie

Idiocy.

OK.  I doubt that any one word will do for such a specific definition.
You or your friend will probably have to use a phrase to express the
idea.  "You are stimulated to take up the activity".  You feel an urge
(or impulse) to. . .  You feel impelled to. . . You have an irresistable
urge to. . .  Or even "you are inspired to . . "

The strength of the idea will help determine the words you choose.  "You
saw Chan do this move and decided you might as well. . ." isn't a strong
feeling, while the irressistible urge is very strong.  The decision may
be well-thought out, or the body may naturally fall into the action with
little thought.  If you or your friend have individual words that can
pick up those feelings/decisions/actions, I don't think you will find a
translation to be a simple word-for-word exchange.

What is the sentence and context you wish use it in?

emulation?

Was (indeed is) it not the custom to precede children's TV shows
containing potentially dangerous activities, eg stunts such as Superman
leaping off buildings, demonstrations involving sharp instruments,
fire, electricity, etc, with the words "Kids, don't try this at home!",
in case the young viewers were tempted to ***emulate*** the activity
they had seen?

I seem to have discovered from newspaper reports that such warnings
were not always heeded.

OK (or, since you don't like that, "Seems like a good idea").  "Monkey
see, monkey do" was something I was brought up with.  I thought of that
early on, but I felt that "imitation" would not serve, for some reason.
Perhaps I got hung up on the idea of "seeing something and wanting to
copy it".   Copy.  Wouldn't OP have thought of that?  Re-enact?  Replay?

I don't mind that sort of OK - one that means something. What I don't
like are the ones like this:-

Q. Do you know the way to San Jos??

A. Okay. First you take the 85 to Burbank, then the 280 through
Cupertino right into San Jos?.
