Is an Irish bull actually a Scottish bull?

On Craig Ferguson's late night talk show tonight (CBS network, USA, 1
a.m. EDT, March 29, 2007), in a conversation with Sigourney Weaver,
whose husband is, like Ferguson, Scottish, he said that an Irish bull
Weaver related was "a very Scottish thing to say."

She said that something (perhaps a cave) was full of guano and
cockroaches, and that if you fell in, "by the time they got you out,
you're gone!"  Ferguson said it was the most Scottish thing he'd heard
since his childhood.

I'm not quite sure what you're asking here. What has the nationality
of Ms Weaver's husband got to do with the name of a figure of speech?
Are you being jocular?
