The Felicitous Javians

I know there are those who find pleasure and amusement in such Canadian
place names as Medicine Hat and Moose Jaw.

But what do you call the people who hail from these places? Until
yesterday I hadn't given it a thought, but then came news of a major
fire in Moose Jaw -- and news reports that provided half the answer: a
felicitous coinage indeed. The residents of that one are, apparently,
the Moose Javians.

Does anyone know the other half of the answer? (I'm kind of hoping for
the Med Hatters).

Alas, "Med Hatters" gets but one googlehit (and a curt 'Did you mean:
"mad hatters"'), whereas "Medicine Hatters" gets 157. The town is
sometimes called "The Hat", so "Hatters" is another possibility.
Unfortunately, Google doesn't allow one to search with the exclusion
of exact phrases, but there are some occurrences of "Hatters" in the
first hits.

Best regards,

Someone could always ask the Mayor or one of the other officials.

Some of the references of "Hatters" are surely to the sports teams of
Stetson University in DeLand FL.

Sure it does, just not with the Advanced Search form.  You either type

   "medicine hat" hatters -"medicine hatters"

in the regular search field, or just invoke the URL

   http://www.google.com/search?q="medicine+hat"+hatters+-"medicine+hatters"

And you get, or at least *I* currently get, 136 hits, which these are the
first 5 of.  (It seems that some indicate the usage in question and some
do not.)

"Hatters" appears to be the word.
http://www.mysouthernalberta.com/med/mardigras/stampede.html
has photos of the Medicine Hat Stampede 2003.
The captions use "Hatters" to refer to the spectators.

No "Med" or "Mad" unfortunately.

I remember reading about "Hatians" once.  I think they were trying to get to
Florida.  It all makes sense now.

Why are we going to Florida?
