It was a bit short though.

I hit Record on my Freeview TV card (which also records Radio from
Freeview) as it was being announced.  I'm not sure if I caught the
beginning and the software is now misbehaving.  I will check later.

My recording seems to have started half-way through the first quaver.
Ruined it is, I tell you, ruined.  It'll be on Listen Again by now
though.

It seem like there ought to be a proverbial expression among(st) British
musician that starts "He's a semiquaver short of a ...".

Who was playing, anyway?

Kind of you to offer, but, thank you, no.

I was just curious whether it was (as was likely, given the size of the
baryton world) someone I know at least slightly.

It was.

Thanks for this. I'd never heard of the instrument before. Must have
been (probably still is if Wikipedia is owt to go by) hellishly
difficult to tune never mind play.

Wikipedia mentions several modern performers including John Hsu and one
Roland Hutchinson. Is the latter the very same? I ask because of your
sig. saying you'll play viola da gamba for food.

Roland was the Baryton Man I was thinking of without being able to
remember his name.

It is he.  I had the great pleasure of meeting him on his recent
visit to London, and of hearing a baryton duet played before an
audience (of one - me) for the first time in 300 years or so.

That's pretty clever for someone born in 1956.  Have you been
experimenting with your Tardis again?

Can't.  It's been fused to 2007 for a few months.
