Sometimes the music in commercials sounds really good*, although too
short. I just discovered (probably last) that all of this stuff can be
found on-line, at YouTube or elsewhere. One example is

It turns out this is a song by Regina Spektor, and further browsing
shows it may be anti-folk (OBAUE, eh?). The lyrics devolve into
nonsense in the center section, which I guess is obligatory for the
genre...

Leslie Fiest is anti-folk?
She is more pop than anything else.

No, I meant she's another example of a songwriter in a commercial that
sounds really good. I liked the dance in the video too. The other
woman, Regina Spektor, I found out on Wikipedia, is anti-folk, a new
term for me.

She's anti-folk by vertue of having "grown up" through the Sidewalk Cafe
scene in NYC, but she does not share the original characteristics of the
genre --basically "acoustic punk." In fact, hardly any of the current
members of the scene do.

I'd never heard of the term "anti-folk" before, but I've certainly
heard of Regina Spektor. She's one of the few singers that my
teenager's generation and mine can both enjoy thoroughly.

Because of Regina Spektor, my daughter is now a Melanie fan, after I
dug out one of my old vinyl albums and played it for her. They have a
*very* similar sound and style.

Melanie Safka still tours and I saw her last winter for old times sake, she
still has it..
If you like Melanie may I suggest to you  Merrie Amsterberg, she has a
wonderful voice.
