Having a bit of fun tonight.

I just heard an announcement that a new series, with American actors, will
begin soon on the USA channel.

Title:  Touching Evil.  I shall have to check out if this is any better than
the US version of Coupling.

I remembered Robson Green as the star in the UK production, and see he has
been for the past year or so in a series called "Wired in the Blood".

I am not wild about either of the shows, but didn't want to make a mistake
on his name, so I looked it up on Google, and find there is a website in his
name, and it has a discussion about the Geordie speech.

What's a Geordie?

Brit. ~n. (1) a person who comes from or lives in Tyneside, North Eastern
England. (2) the dialect spoken by these people. ~adj. (3) of or relating to
these people or their dialect.

and that has a link to a translator:

This whoohoo has translators fro 6 or 7 UK dialects.  Quite fun, really.
(Scouse, Brummie, Scottie and even  Yorkshire chicken run. . .well, that's
what it says.)

Done right, it could be a good show.  There's nothing inherently
British about the show's premise.  Unlike "Coupling", it doesn't
depend on a British style of anything.  It's just set in England.  The
biggest problem is that it's just another crime show premise with an
elite group of crime-solvers.

It will suffer at the hands of critics and Britshow watchers because
it's known to be a take-off.  The producers would be better off just
following the premise and ignoring any ties with the British show.

I thought Green was better in "Touching Evil" than in "Wired in the
Blood'.   In "Wired", he's a skinnier, sexier, Robbie Coltrane down
from Manchester to the Smoke.
