Today I tested all of the links in the Extended Version of
Mark Israel's AUE FAQ.  I found six links that needed to be
updated.  You can see a list of the updated links at
http://www.exw6sxq.com/sparky/aue_related/whats_new.html .

For anyone who is not familiar with the Extended Version of
the FAQ, it's a consolidation of the FAQ proper and the AUE
FAQ Supplement.  The FAQ used for the merger is the one I've
kept up-to-date over the years by occasionally checking
links and revising them when necessary.  I've also
interpolated notes to update any other information that I
know to be obsolete.

When I make changes in the FAQ, I do it in a master
plain-text version.  That plain-test version is then input
to a Perl script that generates an updated HTML full FAQ and
updated versions of the 200-plus files in the fast-access
FAQ.

The full FAQ is at
http://www.exw6sxq.com/sparky/aue_related/full_faq_with_int_links.
The fast-access version of it is at
http://www.exw6sxq.com/sparky/aue_related/fast_faq.html .

Let me say, as I've said many times before, that I offer the
updated version of Mark Israel's FAQ at my Web site only so
long as Mark doesn't deny me permission to do so.  I will
remove it immediately if he tells me to.

However, I've defined certain conditions that must govern
the way that denial is to be delivered.  You can read about
those conditions in my "What's New" file under the date 2003
March 26 at
http://www.exw6sxq.com/sparky/aue_related/whats_new.html .

How did you do this?  Not manually, I hope.  There are a number of software
solutions.  One of the simplest is contained in Microsoft FrontPage.

Good luck and good sailing.

Lately I've been using the "Verify Links" option in
Homesite.  It works well and quickly.  The big job is
finding replacements for bad links.
