Waugh: my excesses who

Hello:

Isn't the closeness of
"my excesses" and "who"
a bit uncomfortable?

Slightly. I think the problem is that the comma following "who" makes a
break that can seem to leave "who" attached to "excesses".

I'd put a comma after "excesses"; and I'd probably leave out the
commas around "in his turn".

Or even perhaps a semi-colon after "excesses" if the other commas were
retained.

I can't but agree. And, in this case, my version is the same as the
ones at Google Books, no comma after "excesses."
