To AUE "members," especially the long-timers:

Jan Sand has sent me some of his new/recent poetry and has also given
his permission for it to appear on my Web Site/Home Page.

If you've read any of Jan's writing before, you know what to expect:
humor, depth, perhaps some whimsy, maybe some tears, and, very likely,
some reflections of your own personal feelings.

The poems can be found on six separate pages of my Web site. They are in
very basic form at this point -- no fancy layouts, illustrations, etc.

The URLs are:

http://www.familyhomefront.net/JanSandNew.html
http://www.familyhomefront.net/JanSandNew2.html
http://www.familyhomefront.net/JanSandNew3.html
http://www.familyhomefront.net/JanSandNew4.html
http://www.familyhomefront.net/JanSandNew5.html
http://www.familyhomefront.net/JanSandNew6.html

One *cannot* reach those pages through the index on my Web site. The new
pages are not yet indexed.

Also: Jan is sending some of his art, and that will be featured on the
Web site as soon as I can process it all.

By the way, some earlier poems of Jan's can be found at:
http://www.familyhomefront.net/JanSandOne.html
http://www.familyhomefront.net/JanSandTwo.html

Thanks for that, Maria. Please pass on my best regards to Jan, I often
remember our brief meeting in Helsinki and the excellent chocolate cake
he made for me.

I should have mentioned that Jan is a former poster to AUE, as there are
many people in the group who may not know that.

He's in Helsinki now, as are his wife and his remaining son. He'll be 84
next month, by the way.

And thanks for replying, Laura. I'll forward your regards to Jan. May I
give him your email address?

Dear Maria,

thank you very much for making these available to us -- several struck
a chord or a nerve or both with me, and they are perfect in my eyes:
not one word too many or too few.  Please let Jan know how much
pleasure and reflection they inspire!

all the best from Brussels (but Helsinki is one of my favourite
places!)

Did you read the one entitled "Trance and Dental Medication"? I thought
of you.

(Yes, Maria, feel free to give him my email address.)

Yes, that reached me directly, the others also spoke very clearly to
me but perhaps ever so slightly less immediately!

"Caution" was my favourite.
What surprised me most is that much of it is written in a form that I
would ordinarily deem to be pretentious twaddle fraudulently being
fobbed off as Poetry under the protective tail-coats of the Art.

So, I'm very surprised to see these and find that I, who have no
training on such matters, can, nonetheless, recognise them as the real
thing.

Thanks for these

Regarding this thread:

I've asked Jan if it's okay to print his email address in the group.
He's fine with that.

The address is:
<jiisand@gmail.com>.

So, if any of you wish to email him directly, please do so. (I certainly
won't mind being "dropped" as a "go-between.")

Note: I'd already forwarded Laura's comment to Jan, but haven't
forwarded the comments from Stephanie and Aquachimp yet.

I wont be going off-group, so by all means forward mine. It's value on
the other hand is another matter. (-:
