I've chanced to come upon a good way to clean my CRT screen, and I
feel it's my duty as a public-spirited citizen to pass the discovery
on to others.  See

Thank you. My screen is now clean.

The mind boggles that some people's screens are so dirty that that would
make them cleaner.

CRT screens are somewhat old-hat now. Does this method work on LCD screens?

Oh YES!

Quite OT, but I find it impossible to associate dogs with cleanliness:
the Andrex puppies still make me cringe. The idea of letting a dog lick
one's face is beyond obscene, even in the implied form of that website.
I'm on perfectly good terms with dogs I know personally, but there are
limits.

I like dogs, and have owned several of them.  The sight of a person
kissing a dog on the mouth is repulsive to me, though.

Agreed, although mouth-licking is instinctive submissive behaviour for
the dog.  I have found that most dogs catch on quickly that the human
hand is the equivalent of a dog's mouth, and can satisfy the instinct
by licking your hand.  Then you just have to remember to wash before
touching things.

My collie, a very proud dog, felt that that was demeaning, and, in
greeting, I had to lay my head beside his instead of giving him my
hand, but there was no question of smooching.

It's much harder to train a bird to do this, but I've seen at least one
person advertising a finger-licking chicken.

Oh sure, if you cut their beaks off.

No. You'll need a cat ot a lizard for that.
