What could be the meaning of "drawing" here?
Also, "defective" seems to me too technical.

I think it suggests "pulling" or "dragging". (Whatever that might mean
in relation to a tooth pain.)

"Defective" does seem a bit formal.

I don't know if I can clearly explain it, but I understand it because
I've been there. Sometimes, if an upper tooth is infected, there's a
painful sensation up in the sinus area that feels like the tooth is
sucking. Root canal time.
