Hello:
My critical edition comments on Stephano's reply:
---
136-7: "have nothing": Orgel suspects a topical allusion to the
increasing expense of the musicians at court
---
What exactly means "topical" in this context? Is it "specific,"
peculiar?"

CALIBAN
Be not afeard; the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices
That, if I then had waked after long sleep,
Will make me sleep again: and then, in dreaming,
The clouds methought would open and show riches
Ready to drop upon me that, when I waked,
I cried to dream again.
STEPHANO
This will prove a brave kingdom to me, where I shall
have my music for nothing.

MW "topical," meaning 1 b:
b : referring to the topics of the day or place : of local or temporary
interest <a topical novel> <topical references>
Orgel, I suppose, is a Shakespearean critic who thinks that, in these
lines, Shakespeare alluded to a real-life present-day situation.

OneLook quickdef:
adjective: of interest at the present time ("A topical reference").
For "present time" read "time in question".
