Hello:
"swung the bed sideways with one hand"
did he lift the bed, then moved it to a side, rotating it in fact
around one of the bedposts?
---
Moss crossed the room and took hold of the footpost of the bed and
swung the bed sideways with one hand. The document case stood there in
the dust. He picked it up. The man didnt even seem to notice. His
thoughts seemed elsewhere.

I think so. I even have a copy of his play "The Stonemason".

He may not have lifted the bed very much, just pushed it. It would
probably have rotated around the headpost/leg diagonally opposite from
the corner where he gripped the bed.

I can agree on your mechanics:-)

Shades of PTD sliding his tool bar to the side!
I would say the bed pivoted on headboard leg diametrically opposite of
the grabbed footpost leg. Just enough lifting to allow movement.
