They're the last names of country singers: Eddie Money, Johnny
Paycheck, Johnny Cash, Ray Price.

But their not capitalized, as they should be in proper names. What's
wrong with the obvious answer: finance or economics? And what does =SDC=
mean in the subject line?

Oops, bad day. "their" should be "they're", of course. And Summer
Doldrums Competition is the answer to my second question.

Ah, but some others (including me) consider "none" as a plural, making "none
are" totally correct.

(As you can see, Vinny, I have managed to get the newsgroup, which eluded me
earlier on. I will soon post the next three questions for the Totally
Official AUE Summer Doldrums Competition for 2010. (TOASDC2010).
