Does intern refer just to students who attend medical schools?

I know the other meaning of intern, the point is: Can a student apart
from medical school be an intern?

I'm not sure, but I think I saw in a movie that a guy who was a student
at a Business school was an intern in a business company.

Was he an intern or trainee?

Thanks.

It's a question of british and American English. In british English the
word "intern" is usually used in the medical context. I the American
context i believe it can be used to refer to a person on what the
British call a work placement - Monica Lewinsky, for example, worked as
an intern in the White House. I'm not certain if it's used to refer to a
trainee, i.e. somebody learning a (usually white-collar) profession.
