I received an e-mail containing some usage that is very indicative that the
person is not a native-speaker of English (or attempts not to be).
I am interested in guessing the writer's native language, by analyzing
syntax and grammar and misspellings. Can someone assist me? It is just a
short paragraph. Please, reply to group. The e-mail address you see does
not exist.

"He said that since i can trust  you to send you money.that i should trust
you to receive a cheaque for 2 of us and send me mine to me.so i wana ask
you if you can clear a cheaque of $5000 ,take $1000 and the send the rest
to the motherless babies home here in xxxxxxx.if you can do that, please
send me your full name,so that it can be used in writting the cheaque and
your address,so that he can send it to you through the your address.is not
gona take anytime.you just have to deposit the cheaque and take $4000 from
the bank.take your $1000 and send $3000 to the motherless here.and the bank
will take their money as soon as the cheaque clears and take their
interest. There is a kid in the motherless babies home here, who has a
seriouse fire burn and needs a surgery and i promised to help,so if you
wana help as well by cashing your money and mine.send me the informations
ASAP and i will make sure all gets to you soonest.i hope to hear from you
soonest. you can contact me on 000 or +)0000000000"

Owain,

Talk to me about that. Why Nigeria. You got my attention.

Because it reads like a scam email, and Nigeria is the best-known source
of such scams.
