Throw in a bar of soap

Hi everyone. Can someone please tell me what the expression "throw in a
bar of soap" means? Thanks.

Literally it means to give you a bar of soap in addition to whatever
else is on offer. But this term could have other transferred meanings
that are not deducible without the context.

Erm...I was watching Spiderman 2 where the editor Jameson says
something like, give him his money and throw in a bar of soap :-|

I believe Peter Parker is covered in filth at the time Jameson says
that. "Throw in" in this case means "add for free."

Then again, I'm not much of a Spidey fanatic.

^^ Yeah I think thats what he meant (he was not talking to spidey
