Which sentence is right?

If you don't do this, you can get an electric shock...

or

If you don't do this, you could get an electric shock...

the second sentence sounds better to me, but i have lerned, if you take the
simple present in the if clause, you must take the "will future" in the main
sentence, or a "modales hilfsverb, like can or must.

Hi,

If you don't do this, you could get an electric shock..

This is the best of the two sentences.

Sometimes conditional sentences are mixed, which means that the time
in the "if" clause is not the same as the time in the main clause.

Hope this helps
