a few years ago a friend of mine in San Francisco, CA told me that
"broke" (or maybe a term sounding the same")means "accent" in American
slang.
Could anyone please confirm me that cause I can't find anything on the
Internet.
p.s. my friend was originally from Chicago
thanks a lot

I think the word your looking for is "brogue", which is usually a very
specific accent, i.e. an Irish accent. Look at meaning 2 at
<http://mw1.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/brogue>.

That's right brogue. I would consider a brogue to be a type of thick accent,
but it is not used much in my neighborhood.
