Hi all,

I am an Australian who has worked and lived in France for the past 2
years. I worked at both Greta (an adult english school) and at Primary
Schools as an "Assistant d'anglais". I have the TEFL Certifcation but
other than that no formal qualifications. Working as an english
teacher in France was fantastic, I absolutly loved it and I would like
to continue doing it in the future.

I am now living in Australia, but will be going back to France next
year. Whilst I am here in Australia I would like to complete some
extra training to increase my options. I have looked at the CELTA exam
amoungst other things. Can anyone recommend a course that I could
complete to increase my options of teaching english at College (high
school) and at independant adult english schools?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I would try to specialize in the TOEIC test. Many French companies
require new applicants to take the test, and globalization has
acquired a new shiny, hopeful look with the new French president.
English, for the French, has become the language of the modern
European, etc. Anyway, you should be able to find TOEIC clients there
- and market yourself as an expert when you return to France. You
could also pick up another TOEFL teacher certificate, but there value
remains more dubious.

Good luck. I had a great time visiting France this summer and teaching
writing to American university students taking a required class while
exploring Paris. The city remains charming... and more open than ever
to English teachers!

Thanks for the information. So you would not recommend the CELTA
Cambridge course? I have seen only 1 instituton being "Wall Street
English" in Paris who ask for the CELTA. Have you done the TOEIC? Do
you think it's worthwhile?

Regards
