How do you normally call a subject at school or college where Word, Excel
etc are taught?

a) IT course
b) IT System.
c) Informatics
d) something else.

If d), please say how.

Thanks!

If it's taught as those subjects only, probably Microsoft Office
Course/Training. Those subjects might be taught as part of Business Studies,
Secretarial Studies, or the ECDL - European Computer Driving Licence.

I wouldn't like to put Microsoft in the name . . . and it's part of general
subject taught to all students (no matter what their course of study,
business, IT, civil/mechanical engineering etc).

"Computer Skills" might do, or simply "Computing".

IT (Information Technology) isn't appropriate since that is the study of
how computers and programming work. Informatics also is inappropriate
since it is also about programming, not simply using a computer.

Computer skills sounds OK. I will use, it's nice, simple, clear! Thanks.

I know about IT but to tell you the truth I wasn't sure about Informatics. .
. I looked it up, but I saw that many Croatian faculties translate the same
course as 'Informatics' which I didn't like.

Thank you once again!

In the British state Educational System, teaching of IT Skills is
called ICT - Information and Communications Technology.

Introduction to Computers or Computer Basics
at school level. More advanced courses
can specialize in Access, Excel, Computer
Programming, etc.

At university level the 1st course is called
Introduction to Computer Science but assumes
the student knows the basics.

As others have noted IT is a more complicated issue.

Thank you all for your suggestions!
