I notice that i-to-i who do TEFL courses have a course next weekend in
oxford http://www.weekendtefl.co.uk/viewPages.php?pageid=84 but what's
the difference between their course and the celta courses etc? Are they
worth doing, all I am looking for is an introductory course that will
give me some work in south east asia. Any advice?

Don't do anything that doesn't give you a recognised qualification -
ie CELTA of Trinity Cert. Weekend courses are a waste of time. One
day you'll have to actually face a class for maybe 20 hours a week
-you're not going to learn anything useful in 48 hours training.

You don't need courses to teach ESL in Asia, or elsewhere,
if you have a university degree and are a native
English speaker.
Do a web search for > ESL Cafe Jobs < to see what's available.
If you don't have a degree then you should probably
attend a TESL/TEFL/TESOL training institute there that can
get you a job.
Why not try a web search for > teaching english asia < ?
That will give you lots of information.
