You may have missed the news story last year when Cheryl Tweedie of
the chart-topping "girl band" Girls Aloud was in court for alleged
racial abuse of a black toilet attendant. The attendant said "I'm not
being spoken to like that. I don't care how many number ones she's
had." And the record company (perhaps knowingly) commented "We are
determined to get to the bottom of this".
