My dull little day was brightened up the other day when the BBC
informed me that the Democratic vice-presidential candidate was due to
face Bush's number two.

No? Just me then. Everyone else has grown up.

You may have missed the news story last year when Cheryl Tweedie of
the chart-topping "girl band" Girls Aloud was in court for alleged
racial abuse of a black toilet attendant.  The attendant said "I'm not
being spoken to like that.  I don't care how many number ones she's
had."  And the record company (perhaps knowingly) commented "We are
determined to get to the bottom of this".
