Hi All,
I am often wondering how to translate German phrases or idions into English,
and very often these expressionen cannot be found in dictionaries.
Is there a newsgroup I can ask questions?
Example we had today:
"Das paßt (haargenau) zu ihm."
Meaning: this is something typical for him, it is abolutely his way of
doing things, of thinking ...etc.
Thanks for any help!

Depending on your preferred language for discussion, I'd suggest
de.etc.sprache.misc or alt.usage.german.

Try alt.usage.german, where the main language of discussion is English
or de.etc.sprache.deutsch, where the main language of discussion is German.

The depends on the meaning of "passen" here - it can mean "to fit", "to
suit" or "to be typical of" and all of these could be used to translate
your sentence depending on the context.
