Brits will know that The Management has spent the last day or two
celebrating the Victory at Trafalgar, ending last night with a review of
the fleet by Brenda and assorted scrambled eggs. It has put us in mind
of a Spithead Review of long ago (1937 to be precise) where the
nocturnal naval gazing was broadcast by a rather tipsy Lt Cdr Tommy
Woodrooffe, a full four minutes of fairyland finally frozen by a brave
BBC technician. The good news is that it has now appeared as an MP3 on
the web, at:
http://www.nr23.net/
A couple of the other items on that page might occasion amusement.

A happy memory. But I didn't find the tamasha on telly: being as
partial to a good Fleet Review as the next dangerous loony Leftie, I
was very disappointed. Could this be Political Correctness Gone Mad
At Television Centre, or was I simply as disorganised as the rest of
us Threats To Civilization As We Know It? These days you can't even
pop into a news cinema with your sandwiches and watch it every day
for the next week.

Very nice indeed - in addition to the Feet Review, I particularly
liked the BBC English lesson as provided there.
