The expression is pretty obvious. However, could you explain what "wick"
means if it is alone?

The wick is the part of a candle that you light.

So is a candle. In fact, appropriate context provided, just about
anything might be a euphemism for penis, even Fawthrop.

Cockney rhyming slang   "Hampton Wick ( a part of London) = dick
(penis)

One of the funniest moments in British television (IMHO) was in one of
spike Milligan's "Q" series when he arose as from a submarine in a
man's bathtub, pointed at him and said: "Littlehampton"

The Understanding that in rhyming slang Hampton could also be a
euphemism for.....
and Littlehampton is a place on the south coast....

and Little hampton means.... the bathwater must be cold.
