facets here. Later on, however, some people came up with some phrases they

u.c.l.e. has only a few subscribers, several of whom are cranky.
alt.usage.english also has several crankies, but it has many more
subscribers, so the crankiness ratio is that much lower and the quantity of
kind, helpful replies is higher.

Based on my experience over the years I tend to doubt that this is the
case. I find UCLE quite civilised compared with the bear garden in AUE
or AEU.
