Not the most used wp in the world I know but it is one I have
used almost exclusively for several years. Today it is playing silly
b*gg*rs.
I was in the process of drafting out a document on my laptop
and it ocurred to me to use the Outline features of WP97, which I had
never used before. As soon as I entered that system the document text
disappeared, apart from the title. I assumed that the text had been
pushed down a level and sought to get it back, without success.
Fortunately I always save documents I am working on to floppy. (1) So
it wasn't a major problem, because I have another machine and the
document is still all there when read (using, yes, WP97) so I haven't
lost any work. What I have lost is the ability to use WP97 on the
laptop. I cannot see the text on my original document when using the
laptop, nor can I write even to a new document: the Return just will
not take the cursor down to the next line.
And if any of you are trhinking that it is the keyboard ogf
the laptop which has caused the problem, think again - I've checked on
when using Open Office everything works fine. (Apart from the fact
that it takes a week to open!)
I assume WP97 on the laptop (even when re-installed) is still
fixed in Outline. How do I get it back to normal text?
1. I can still do this but for how long? The next generation of
laptops etc don't have floppy drives do they?

Should you find yourself with a computer with no floppy drive, you might use a
USB flash memory device - they are not expensive and are easy to use.

I'm not sure exactly what your problem is but either setting the Display
menu to Normal Or Page might help or if not find *both* copies of
normal.dot that are on your PC (one is hidden) and delete them. A nw one
will created when you reload Wrd

Sorry ignore the previous. My current bout of flu has addled my brain
and I didn't take in that you meant WordPro rather than just Word (MS).
