Since Vinci is a town near Florence its italian pronounce is
VEEN-chee, although in Tuscany probably they say something
closer to VEEN-shee.

Anyway, Italians pronounce English names using Italian phonetic
rules, and the same happens everywhere, so no problem if
somebody in the U.K. says VEEN-see or whatever else.

p.s. I hope you understand my English...

hmmm....so you do suspect, don't you, that your English would perhaps
be Greek and Latin to some one else ? If only there were more people
who shared this virtue of humility.

Indeed I think readers understand what I write, smiling because
it is strange.
Anyway, I don't speak English, I only read and (try to) write
English.

Look , you both write perfectly OK English, it gets understood, so stop
squabbling. Now if I stated writing in Italian, that would give you a laugh.

Who's squabbling????!!!!  Ultimately there is a genuine, million
dollar question (it could be philosophy that has a bearing on socio-
psychology) where you really ask, "Heck, even though I do really
understand the words, the syntax, the context, do I really understand
the meaning?"  And the honest and the humble will answer, "Only to a
certain extent."
