"We do not torture"07 Nov 2006 17:08 GMT2
This may well have been answered already, but can anyone tell me
whether "torture" is frequently used as an intransitive verb in
America? I had never come across this before Mr. Bush's famous claim.

Odd ,I killfiled one name and two disappeared.
I've been killfiling a lot here lately, it seems that some oddball trolls
have discovered the group.
Their sense of humour eludes me.

Git07 Nov 2006 03:39 GMT44
A Respected Regular used the term "... which I should have done from
the git".  I understand the meaning - "from the git go" which is
presumably a variance of "from the get go".
But I had to read it three times, because of the UK meaning of "git".
meaning of 'all around'07 Nov 2006 02:58 GMT9
I want to know the correct usage of 'all around' in conversational
english? Here's the context I just heard, "I like different types of

BrE: "should" in subordinate clauses07 Nov 2006 00:11 GMT9
For the Brits out there: I'd appreciate some pointers re the use of
"should" (as opposed to "would") in subordinate clauses, in the formal
BrE.
Clear rules in effect would be best, also links.
