Embarking on a renavigation of Umberto Eco's
"Serendipities - Language and Lunacy" (from
Italian by William Weaver), the opening chapter
"THE FORCE OF FALSITY" yielded the following

Since Vinci is a town near Florence its italian pronounce is
VEEN-chee, although in Tuscany probably they say something
closer to VEEN-shee.
Anyway, Italians pronounce English names using Italian phonetic
