as part of the writing of a program that will check grammar,
we have to use a set of correct and incorrect sentences:
1) Two first class honors Carl wants among his senior sophister students
this year

asking whether they were grammatically correct or not.
Everybody agreed this one was NOT correct:

Consider these two sentences:
       A group of men played with the dogs.  They were energetic.
The word "they" may possibly refer to "the group of men",
not to the dogs.

I've just been told off by my proof-reader for not correcting this sentence
in an article about cricket teas: "Most memorable of all was probably the
spaghetti Bolognaise which led to the situation often described as 'the
afternoon we all got runs'." She said that spaghetti ...
